Collection: All Flesh is Grass

All Flesh is Grass
In the 17th century, it was common practice to make jewellery as a reminder of the inevitability of death. Often referred to as “memento mori”, latin for “remember you must die”. These pieces vividly depicted death with enamelled skeletons, intimate engravings, and even secret compartments for a departed loved one’s hair.
All Flesh is Grass is a continuation of our exploration of mortality in metal. You will see swarming flies, skulls, and religious symbolism amongst silhouettes that we have continued developing from our earlier work. As grass withers and becomes food for the earth, so do we. It’s a dark thought - but it’s the transient nature of our lives that we think makes them so precious - more precious than silver and stones.
