Refunds and Returns

Refunds and Returns

At The Winter House, every piece of jewellery is handcrafted with care, and most of our work is made-to-order or bespoke. As such, we generally do not accept returns, except in exceptional circumstances. Returns are never accepted for items purchased during sample sales or for special orders.

As a solo maker, Liam Winter takes pride in the time, care, and attention devoted to each piece. We appreciate your understanding of the craftsmanship involved. While we cannot offer refunds for bespoke, made-to-order, or personalised pieces, our team is always available to provide guidance or assistance to ensure you are satisfied with your jewellery.

To be eligible for a return for stocked pieces, your item must be unworn, unused, in the same condition in which it was received, with all tags attached, and in its original packaging. Proof of purchase or a receipt will also be required. Any items sent without prior approval will not be accepted.

Bespoke and Made-to-Order Pieces

Each bespoke piece is created specifically for you and cannot be returned. Bespoke items include any piece customised or altered from its original design, including changes to ring size, stone selection, stone layout, finish, or metal. By purchasing a bespoke piece, or paying any deposit or balance, you agree to these terms. Made-to-order pieces and any ready-to-ship items personalised at the customer’s request are also non-refundable.

In Stock Pieces

For in stock items that have not been personalised, we offer a full refund within 30 days of purchase, provided the piece is returned in its original condition.

Damaged or Defective Items

If your jewellery arrives damaged or defective, please contact our team immediately. Eligible returns will be inspected upon receipt, and you will be informed whether a refund has been approved. Approved refunds will be processed to your original payment method, although bank or credit card processing times may vary.

Jewellery Care

Jewellery Care

Your The Winter House piece is designed to last a lifetime. While our jewellery is highly durable, it remains delicate and should be handled with care. Over time, pieces will naturally evolve, developing a patina, slight darkening in areas, and minor signs of wear such as small scratches or dents. These characteristics are part of the natural beauty of fine jewellery and reflect its history and use.

For in depth jewellery care advice please visit our product care page.

Handling and Storage

To preserve the condition of your jewellery, we recommend storing it in a dry, dark place when not in use, preferably in the original box or a dedicated jewellery storage solution. Avoid exposing your pieces to chemicals such as perfumes, body lotions, sunscreens, cleaning products, and household bleach, as these can affect precious metals.

Activity Considerations

We advise removing your jewellery during activities that may accelerate wear or tarnish, including: household chores, gardening, showering or bathing, swimming in pools or the sea, using lotions or cosmetics, exercising, or participating in contact sports. Sterling silver is particularly sensitive to salty air, chlorine, sulphur, humidity, and perspiration, and should be stored carefully to minimise tarnishing.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

For regular upkeep, gently polish your jewellery with a microfiber cloth. For more detailed cleaning, such as engravings, use warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that may damage the metal or stones.

Materials and Ethics

Each piece is crafted with care and ethical consideration. Stones are hand-selected, and all craftsmanship is held to the highest standards. For sourcing information on certified stones, please contact our team.

Size Guide

Size Guide

All rings from The Winter House are handcrafted, allowing us to create each piece to your exact size. If you find a design you love but do not see your size listed, please contact us directly so we can accommodate your requirements.

Accurate sizing is essential to ensure comfort and wearability. We recommend having your finger measured by a local jeweller before confirming your size with us, and keeping in mind that factors such as body temperature can influence finger measurements. Alternatively, a ring sizer can be ordered to help determine your precise size.
